Building Digital Library in Nepal: Experience Sharing of UN Digital Library

With passion of reaching to end users, any transition of technological innovation has to overcome several issues, beyond the environment. While turning reference library to digital library in United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Nepal, mainly three components – content, budget and technology – were central to produce a visible result within 5 years timeframe. Authorization is major component every time to establish a legacy. This article is based on the author’s experiences[1] of UN digital library (http://un.info.np) transition in UNIC Kathmandu.

Kirtipur, Lalitpur on Thursday, 10 April 2018 — Life with digital impression or life in isolation is not immune from thirst of new development with new media; the new media with native behavior understanding human actions has gained attention of people, especially youth who have developed their own way to express their emotions like reading habit, expressing their happiness and sadness in digital media. An intensity of the media is significant in youth and attention of any entity or sector for youth is always high. Traditional library is in line to transform in new way to meet youth’s path.

Edging of digital pathway for knowledge management in federal structure

Especially in developing countries, they are a mover towards new technology introducing themselves in new trend with the internet. Contemporary resources centers – information centers and libraries – are enhancing with high technology like web applications and for portable device like mobile applications. It is an appreciating development in resource centers around the country. However, there are few latent upcoming issues of effectiveness in new administrative structural changes in Nepal.
