Kathmandu, 20 September 2017 — “Does it like asking coffee using e-mail!”, said my senior at middle of the trip from Kathmandu to Darchula in 2007 when there was not landline phone or mobile except CDMA phone. I was not in position to imagine the real ground before my field trip to Darchula though I was bit experienced about rural area of Nepal. It was new experience again. I reached Darchula of Nepal through Dharchula of India which was compulsion for every Nepali since there was no appropriate motor way from Baitadi. And we must enter Darchula before 5pm. The extraordinary experience was not the end here. However, it was just started.

Social Media Richness in Digital Diplomacy in Nepal

Img - A woman with blue mobile
A woman getting a call from his son in Ghandruk in March 2017.

She was still using same cell phone with text dominating system but color phone which was gifted, second handed, six years ago by his son when he got new one. She showed me the phone and said it was the same phone when we met six years ago. She was using phone only to receive phone calls however she has started dialing from immediate, six years ago, I shared to operate properly. I told my number and she dialed again. Incoming call displaying name of “Dil Kumari Chhetry” on my phone was evidence of media richness using smart technology, for example – smart phone, cloud and the Internet – that I am using. However, she had also my number but it was saved as different name which is unknown to her since she can’t still recognize English script. This is a story of woman – Dil Kumary Chhetry – from Ghandruk which is one of accessible remote areas of Nepal and in line of Annapurna trail circuit. I revisited her in her house with my family in March 2017. I met her six years ago in December 2011 when I was in academic research of e-Government project work for Kathmandu University.

Raising of machine, especially digital technology, is not an issue at all. However, increasing digital supremacy rending societal and civitas calendar is an eye-opener of digital mediation and its power. Man is in digital race enticing his power with machine debuting machine civilization and edging humanity in materialistic world. Advancement of digital technology and ongoing rapid success rate in digital technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning would bring a reality of machine civilization in notice of human beings after immediate of capability of machine to reproduce, and ego – constructing “I” in their existence. Enticing of power and politics within two civilizations would bring new social contract introducing new story of leviathan to establish power and politics between tow civilizations. And machine civilization would obviously represent mirror of characters and thought of its inventors or scientist. At the day of machine civilization human won’t be only one most intelligent animal on the earth as today in a way of realism. Nexus of new civilization of machine won’t be stopped since man is in digital race and he won’t stop to prove as if his super capacity building same as him.

Technology for hunger — Sustainable Development Goals in relation for bridging

Technology for hunger.jpgThere is no doubt of innovation for foster development and resilience infrastructure development in a nation. No area is immune from effects of innovative technology with rapid growing and rendering social calendar of people around the world. Nobody wants to stop the technology and feel incomplete without technology even in group or alone, especially if to show off. In case of wondering how such technology is affordable to hunger who cannot even afford his grains. It would be innovative and sustainable if a hunger, from war zone and crisis, could afford the technology rather than a matter of show off. Development actors, donors, national and international community and no other than scholar and academicians should enter into a dialogue to bridge technology and livelihood of people in a way that a hunger would have no feelings of hungry next morning rather than as a burden or expensive item just for show off.
